My Mentor, Peggy These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children. —Titus 2:4
When you hear the term motherin-law, what comes to mind? For many, those words are scary. Not for me. God put my motherin-law, Peggy, in my life to teach me more about love. Early in my marriage, I was seriously ill. I wondered if I would even survive. My in-laws took us in so Peggy could take care of me. She never complained about the extra work. That’s love. When my health improved, Peggy became more of a friend than an in-law. We frequently went shopping together. Little did I know, she was subtly teaching me how to shop. We spent time chatting in her kitchen; I learned to cook there. In our frequent conversations, I learned about life and loving others. She supplemented the lessons my own mom had taught me, without ever trying to take her place. Without even knowing it, Peggy was also teaching me how to be a motherin-law, and I intend to love my daughter-in-law the way Peggy loves me.
We serve a God who can make even in-law relationships wonderful! — Cindy Sipula —
