Love in Bloom And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? —Luke 12:28
Gingerly, I carried the little basket home from school. Inside it nestled two little purple flowers. Violets for my mom. Mrs. Dennison, my first-grade teacher, had told us all about May Day, when people celebrate spring by giving flowers. I couldn’t wait to hand my basket to Mom. Mom loved flowers, and it showed. In front of our house, her rosebushes grew big, exuding perfume for a great part of the year. The south and west sides of the house were lined with daffodils, tulips, and hollyhocks. The north side boasted peony bushes. She even had a huge, magenta azalea that just wasn’t supposed to be able to live year-round in northern Missouri. But it flourished for my mom. I have picked up the love of flowers and plants from my mom. I love to wander around in the warm months examining how God expressed His creativity in the plant world. As I see how He intricately designed the different plants, caring for their smallest details, I marvel. And I remember that I mean more to Him than all His botanical beauties.
This season, each time we see pretty flowers, may it be a reminder to us of how much our Father cares. — Jenni Davenport —
