Rabbit Rabbit Day Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life. —Psalm 23:6

Rabbit Rabbit,” I said, peeking out from the covers. My husband smiled at me. Saying Rabbit Rabbit is a practice believed to have originated long ago in England. But for me, the tradition started with my second-grade teacher. “If the first words you say on the first day of the month are Rabbit Rabbit,” Miss Rosa told us, eyes twinkling, “you’ll have a good month.” Faithfully I obeyed. Then one morning, I forgot. I was doomed. While the other kids went to recess, I sulked at my desk. “What’s wrong?” Miss Rosa touched my shoulder. “I forgot Rabbit Rabbit,” I sniffed. Miss Rosa spoke gently. “You know, Rabbit Rabbit is just for fun. You can still have a good month . . . if you try.” Now I remember those words. When I start my day thinking it’s going to be good, chances are I find the positive. “Thank you, God, for this day,” I pray as I get out of bed, “and for rabbits too.”

Start each day with a smile and confidence in a beautiful day, knowing the Lord who loves you has created it. — Peggy Frezon —
