When God Calls If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord — and he will repay you! —Proverbs 19:17
I rarely had cash, and I couldn’t wait to spend it on something amazing. But an idea popped into my head. What if I gave it to the needy? At first the idea annoyed me, but I soon realized what I needed to do—send my first check to support a teen in Ethiopia. Four months and a couple of hundred dollars later, I found myself wondering if I could still provide for this teen and if it was worth it. I prayed, and all I felt in return was that I should trust God. So I sent another check in the mail. Soon after, I received a note from my Ethiopian friend. He said, “How are you doing, whom I love and respect? I am doing well. I just passed on to the eighth grade. I am so happy! I am ready to continue my education well.” That is what God did with my faithfulness. Nothing can compare with the knowledge that I am changing this teen’s life!
