A Different Way to Worship For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities— his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. —Romans 1:20
As I read about John the Baptist in Matthew 3:4, I wondered why the Bible specified what the man wore and ate. Was he the first back-to-nature kind of guy? He certainly seemed to make good use of the resources God put on the earth. I started thinking about our natural resources. I’ve never considered myself an environmentalist, but I certainly believe in recycling. I’m concerned about many of the pollution issues that concern most Americans; I try to do my part in little ways by clustering my driving errands, cleaning up around me, and conserving energy. If a Christian believes this earth is not our final home, that heaven is, why bother? I see these steps not just as common sense and helping preserve the earth for my children and their children. As I take time out to look at nature, I see it as God’s fascinating creation. In a sense, I worship Him by practicing good stewardship with this world He’s given us.
The earth is a loving God’s gift to us, and we show our love for His work by practicing good stewardship. — Janet Graham —
