Heavenly Perfection Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. —1 Corinthians 15:43

I love hearing speaker, author, and disability advocate Joni Eareckson Tada talk about heaven. She has such hope and light in her eyes and a lilt in her voice. Her confidence cries out that one day she will shed her broken, paralyzed body and have a new one that’s resplendent, powerful, and glorious. When she talks about heaven she adds, “I just hope that day comes soon.” So it is for all of us. I sometimes tell my wife, “I can’t wait till I’m a trim 140 pounds, in perfect shape, and able to run a mile in four minutes.” We talk about things like being able to eat anything we want and not gain weight, having the power to go anywhere at a mere thought, and seeing God’s face. But one thing I can’t wait for is being able to love everyone perfectly. I mean it. I long for the day when I never say a mean word again, never make a mistake, and always show perfect love. That’s something to look forward to.

Don’t be discouraged. One day God will make you perfect—in goodness, compassion, and love. — Mark Littleton —
