Our Priceless Inheritance We have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. —1 Peter 1:4
We talked about heaven and our inheritance in the Bible study. People were excited. “You know,” one lady said, “I think I’m going to spend the first hundred years just trying all the different kinds of ice cream. And I’ll never get fat.” That made us laugh. Another said, “I think seeing my grandparents again will be important for me. I’ve missed them so much.” I jumped in with, “Meeting people like Paul, Peter, Adam and Eve, and of course, Jesus. That will be incredible.” We talked more, and I said, “But what about your inheritance, the things God will give you?” “I don’t know,” one said. “I don’t think it’s stuff or material. It’s more like joy, love, and goodness.” “And righteousness. Being perfect,” another said. “That’s what I want.” It was an exciting thought. That will be an amazing day.
When we look forward to heaven, it shouldn’t be material items that draw us, but love, joy, peace, and other intangibles. — Patrick Mitchell —
