Never Forgotten See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. —Isaiah 49:16

We were waiting in a cafeteria line at one of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. My two-year-old son held on to my hand. Suddenly, he turned around and let go to get closer to his grandpa. But as he turned around, away from his daddy and me, he panicked. He couldn’t see us anymore. Though his grandpa and grandma were right there, he thought his parents had deserted him. The funny thing was—we had never moved. Sometimes we as Christians forget that God is constant. We turn away and panic because we think we’ve been left on our own. We think God has forgotten us just when our need is the greatest. But God never moves. In fact, God has gone a step beyond being there for us. God has inscribed us, written us onto His hands. Not just our name or identity, but all of us. No matter where we are in life’s journey, we remain in the hands of God.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that God loves us and treasures us more than we

can begin to love Him? — Susan Lyttek —
