The Perfect Job Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. —Proverbs 3:5–6

After praying for the perfect job, I thought my prayers were answered—until I discovered I was the only Christian in an office filled with people who practiced immorality and profanity. “What are you doing, Lord? This is not the ‘perfect’ place I prayed for. This is a sin pit!” I told Him. I gave my notice at work but promised to stay until my replacement was found. And I searched for another job. Despite having numerous job interviews for positions I was well qualified for, I wasn’t hired. Discouraged, I searched God’s Word for an answer. It seemed every Scripture pointed to love, which fulfills the law, works no ill toward its neighbor, and reflects Christ. I finally realized why God placed me there. It wasn’t for me; it was for Him. My co-workers needed Jesus. When I yielded and asked God to fill my heart with love for each of them, He answered that prayer abundantly. Two years later, I wept when I moved to another city—and thanked God for giving me that perfect job.

We are happiest and most usable when we yield to Christ regardless of our circumstances. — Kitty Chappell —
