Come As a Little Child When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. —Psalm 94:19
The day at work had been stressful, and I left the office feeling drained and badly in need of a hug. Shortly after I arrived home, my phone rang. When I answered it, I heard a little voice on the other end of the line sob, “Grandma, I want to hold you.” My two-year-old grandson, David, had hurt himself and wouldn’t be calmed until his mommy let him call Grandma. Since we lived just five minutes apart, I jumped in the car and rushed right over to let my grandson hold me. While he did, I could feel the loving arms of God comforting me as I comforted little David. What bliss to be sandwiched in the hugs of two who love me so much. I felt the stresses of the day melt away. And David and I were both calmed.
Sometimes we just need to cry out, “God, I want to hold you!” and let His love comfort us. — Jan Christiansen —
